John C. Voudouris, DDS, D.Ortho, MSc.(D)

Dr. John Voudouris is a Certified Orthodontic Specialist in Orthodontics and experienced clinician, a research scientist, and an educator in 3 universities. He maintains a private orthodontic clinical practice in Toronto for over 36 years. 
He is currently teaching at the University of Toronto, Department of Orthodontics since 1985 to the present day, a Visiting Scholar at NYU and an Affiliate Affiliate Member of the School of Dental Medicine, Department of Orthodontics Nova Southeastern University. 
He developed the Growth Relativity Theory published for condylar-fossa modification to correct recessive chin positions in growing patients, Twin active self-seating bracket mechanisms, and the new JVBarre 4D Maxillary Segmental Distalizer, aligner tongue trainers, tongue stars, biturbos and several other orthodontic appliances indicated to benefit patient treatment.
Dr. Voudouris was one of the first to structure and systemize aligner diagnosis and treatment planning courses using scientific evidence-based data for orthodontists. 
Consequently, he is the author of the University Introduction to Aligners Level 1, Aligner Supercorrection Prescription textbook Level 2 to treat highly complex orthodontic problems. The 3 levels of the Supercorrection Prescription correct for fatigue of thermoplastic aligners to show aligners can correct vertical dimension complications such as open bites, deep bites, Class III (underbites), asymmetries etc., that was additionally published in the recognized Seminars in Orthodontics in January 2022. In addition, he is the author of University Aligner Techniques Level 3 covering over 55 aligner advancements for the orthodontic specialist and also authored the first formal textbook on Interactive Self-ligation, worldwide.

Dr. Voudouris has lectured extensively in several universities internationally and privately including on two occasions at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine on active self-seating brackets and the JVBarre 4D Distaizer, Tufts University, Boston University, University of Connecticut, University of Michigan Ann Arbor, NYU, NSU, Aarhus University Denmark, Montrouge University Paris, University of Bordeaux, University of Lyon, University of Geneva, The Nippon Dental University Tokyo Japan, University of Western Ontario, London including Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, Athens and Thessaloniki Greece, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Russia with invitations to South Africa, Australia, and Aristotle University Thessaloniki. 
John Voudouris is the researcher and developer of the original IN-OVATION and Empower Interactive Self-ligating System and maintains several pieces of intellectual property for new orthodontic technologies. Dr. John Voudouris is recognized as an expert internationally in the field of Dentofacial Orthopedics and Interactive Self-ligation orthodontics.

Dr. Voudouris enjoys hockey, golf, skiing, tennis, soccer, reading, and travel with his family.

Dr. John Voudouris’ visit at HSDM, honouring Dr. Jack G. Dale, his Orthodontist, mentor and friend, in his second presentation on Craniofacial growth. The full-day course addressed Phase 1 fixed functional functional diagnosis and treatment planning optimized by Phase 2 passive-active self-ligation biomechanics. This was in conjunction with several other new technologies including the New JVBarre 4D Distalizer, Biturbo (BT2) to open the vertical in deep overbite treatment, and Tongue Stars (TS2) to control anterior tongue positioning in open bite treatment.
